Smile Makeover Questions
Northern Virginia including Tysons Corner, Fairfax, Reston, Alexandria, Arlington, Washington D.C. and surrounding areas
What is a smile makeover?
It is any treatment or combination of treatments to enhance the health and beauty of your smile. Each makeover is unique to that person. It could be as short and sweet as a tooth whitening procedure. It could be quite extensive, taking place over several months, and including a range of treatments such as porcelain veneers, dental implants, and porcelain crowns.
How would I know what procedures to include in my smile makeover?
Your smile makeover components would be decided in discussion with Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Chung. He would first do a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and bite. He would also listen to your concerns and goals and answer your questions. You and he would decide on the best sequence for your procedures, and the best timeframe for your schedule. If cost is an issue, you can adjust the timeframe to accommodate your budget. There is more information on finance on our Affordable Financing page.
Could I get my teeth straightened as part of a smile makeover?
Yes. Dr. Chung offers Invisalign® as convenient way for adults to straighten their teeth. You would not need to wear metal or wire in your mouth. The Invisalign method uses clear plastic trays called aligners, which apply the gentle, selective pressure needed to gradually move your teeth into better alignment.
How does a smile makeover differ from a full mouth rejuvenation?
It is less extensive and focuses more on cosmetic enhancement. A full mouth rejuvenation could include many of the same procedures, such as porcelain crowns or inlays and onlays. But it could also include treatment for temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), which is a disorder of the bite. Dr. Chung is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) where he received intensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of TMD. When the jaw joint is out of alignment, the teeth are often out of alignment too, and as part of treating TMD, Dr. Chung can do dental work which is both cosmetically enhancing for your smile, and health-restoring for your bite.
I have a mouthful of metal fillings. Could I have them replaced in a smile makeover?
Absolutely. They could be replaced with tooth-colored fillings or with porcelain inlays or onlays. This in itself would make an enormous improvement in your smile, to remove those gray old fillings which mar the brightness of your smile. The new white fillings would not be visible as fillings at all; they would just look like part of your teeth.
