General Dentist Dr. Chung at Softouch Dental Care in Virginia offers a full array of cosmetic dentistry procedures, as well as neuromuscular dentistry. As a necessary foundation for full dental care, he also offers general dentistry. In years long past now, people used to go to the dentist only for basic care, often only when they had a toothache. A modern and highly-trained dentist like Dr. Chung approaches your dental care with a far different attitude. He works to prevent dental problems and to keep your teeth in gums vibrantly healthy.
Modern dentistry has been transformed by computers and lasers. In this high-tech era, dental procedures are faster, easier, virtually pain-free, more numerous, and more varied. Dental implements are far more sophisticated.
We have designed our dental offices to be a kind of home-away-from-home for you. So that we can give you plenty of time, care, and attention, we see only two or three patients each day. Dr. Chung has graduated from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, known popularly as LVI. This is the premier school for post-graduate dental education. In the process of teaching cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry, it also teaches a new attitude to dental care. Dr. Chung will approach your care holistically, assessing your dental status with both beauty and function in mind. A beautiful smile is first of all a healthy one.
Replacing old fillings
If you have some old metal fillings and would like to have gleaming white fillings instead, that can be done with no problem. The metal amalgam fillings tend to weaken the tooth over time, causing it to crack and even break entirely. They are not an integral part of the tooth like porcelain fillings. Nor do they look attractive. A porcelain filling (inlay or onlay) will be bonded to the tooth, strengthening it and extending its life.
Other procedures we offer are:
- Dental bonding – a quick way to correct many small defects such as chips or gaps
- Teeth whitening – which takes about an hour when done in our office
- Invisalign – a convenient and discreet way for adults to straighten their teeth
- Tooth recontouring – done with our hard tissue laser
- Bridges – traditional, or supported by dental implants
